Placing the address
Teltower Damm is the spine, with Rathaus Zehlendorf and the S-Bahn station roughly at its middle. Clayallee, Berliner Straße and Potsdamer Straße lead outwards, and Mexikoplatz sits over to the north-west. Naming the nearest crossing alongside the house number spares me circling a long residential street looking for numbers hidden in hedges.
Terrace doors, garden gates and back entrances
In a house with a garden, the door that has locked you out is often not the front one. Terrace doors deserve a careful description: many have no external handle at all, and some cannot be opened from outside by any method that leaves them usable afterwards. If a window is ajar somewhere, say so, because occasionally that is the cheapest solution available and I will point it out.
Multipoint locking on the newer doors
Newer front doors, including replacements fitted to older houses, run multipoint hardware: turning the key throws hooks or bolts into the frame at several heights. Pulled shut, such a door is often manageable. Fully locked, it becomes a different piece of work altogether, which is why I ask on the phone whether the key was turned. A locked door, a lost key or a broken cylinder is priced from 110 €.
The distance, said plainly
This is the far side of the city from Leibnizstraße. Arrival runs 25 to 45 minutes plus the journey, and the address falls outside the near core, so the job is quoted either from 90 € or with travel from 20 €. Anything between 19:00 and 08:00, plus the whole of weekends and public holidays, carries a flat 20 €.
Paying, and what you keep afterwards
Card, cash and invoice are all fine. If the property is rented, managed or insured, ask for the invoice while I am still there and give me the billing name and address, since it is far easier to write it correctly on the spot than to reconstruct it a week later.

Do you genuinely cover Zehlendorf, or only the west centre?
I do come out here, with the caveat that it is a real journey rather than a hop. The work is concentrated in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, so if you need somebody within ten minutes I will tell you honestly that I am not that person tonight.
My multipoint door will not turn. Is that the cylinder?
It can be, but a stiff or immovable multipoint lock is just as often the gearbox inside the door leaf or a frame that has dropped out of alignment. I check the key, the handle and the keeps before deciding, because replacing the wrong part solves nothing.
I have lost the only key to the house. What happens then?

Is a Saturday dearer than a Tuesday?
By a flat 20 €, the same amount that applies at night and on public holidays. There is no percentage loading and no second weekend rate hidden underneath it.
Can I pay by card this far out?
Yes, card works exactly as it does in the centre, and cash is equally fine. Whichever you choose, the sum matches what we agreed on the phone.
