Halensee: a short drive, a clear number, no hotline.
Halensee sits close enough to base that arrival is usually 15 to 25 minutes. Tell me the street, the number and where the key ended up, and the figure I give on the phone is the figure written on your invoice.

Fluent English · direct owner contact
You can speak to me in English.
I speak English fluently. I may initially answer the phone in German because I work in Berlin; simply speak to me in English and I will switch immediately. You speak directly with me—the locksmith who clarifies the door situation, explains the price components, travels to you, carries out the agreed work and issues the invoice.
What to expect
Clear emergency process, no mystery price game.
I ask what happened, where you are, whether the door is shut or locked, whether the key is inside or lost, and whether an invoice is needed. Then I give a realistic arrival and price range.
Simple shut door
Damage-minimising opening first if the latch can be reached.
Locked door / lost key
May require drilling, pulling or cylinder replacement after explanation.
Company invoice
Billing address, e-mail and service details can be recorded.

The streets, and who lives on them
Seesener Straße, Joachim-Friedrich-Straße, Karlsruher Straße and Markgraf-Albrecht-Straße carry most of the residential addresses, wedged between the ring railway and the motorway feeder. A great many of the flats are rented, sublet or shared, and that shows up in the calls: the name on the bell is frequently not the name of the person standing outside it. Workable, but mention it early rather than at the door.
Shut, locked, or something broken
Three situations, three prices. A door resting on its latch is the cheapest at 70 € and normally opens with no damage at all. A door that was locked with the key, a key gone missing, or a cylinder that has given up starts at 110 €, because in most cases the cylinder must be drilled and replaced. Between 19:00 and 08:00, and across weekends and public holidays, add a flat 20 €.
How pricing is meant to work here
Anyone new to Germany should know two things. First, a price named on the telephone before the tradesman leaves is binding, so insist on hearing a total instead of an hourly rate and a shrug. Second, the small-business rule in § 19 UStG means this business adds no value added tax, so there is no nineteen per cent waiting at the end. If a firm cannot or will not put a number to your problem before dispatch, that is the moment to hang up.

FAQ
Questions about emergency locksmith Halensee
What does a door that simply blew shut cost?
From 70 € in this part of town, assuming it is resting on the latch and was not locked. I confirm the amount once you have described the door, and it does not move afterwards.
I am subletting and my name is not on the bell. Is that a problem?
Not by itself. Bring something that links you to the flat: a sublet agreement, post addressed to you, a message from the tenant, or the tenant reachable by phone. What I cannot do is open a door for somebody who can show no connection to it at all.
Why do some firms advertise a door opening for 19 euro?
Because that number attracts the call, not because it pays for the job. The figure typically covers a fraction of the visit, with the rest appearing as separate items once the technician is on site and you are in no position to argue. Ask for the total in advance and the tactic stops working.
Will nineteen per cent be added to the total?
No. Invoices here carry no value added tax whatsoever, so the amount agreed is the amount due.
