Outside-hours scenario

Door opening outside normal hours: one clear surcharge rule.

Outside normal hours, stress and limited building access can distort decisions. The technical diagnosis remains the same, while the published time surcharge and route are clarified before dispatch.

Paul Gammershmidt, owner and working locksmith in Berlin

Fluent English · direct owner contact

You can speak to me in English.

I speak English fluently. I may initially answer the phone in German because I work in Berlin; simply speak to me in English and I will switch immediately. You speak directly with me—the locksmith who clarifies the door situation, explains the price components, travels to you, carries out the agreed work and issues the invoice.

What to expect

Clear emergency process, no mystery price game.

I ask what happened, where you are, whether the door is shut or locked, whether the key is inside or lost, and whether an invoice is needed. Then I give a realistic arrival and price range.

Simple shut door

Damage-minimising opening first if the latch can be reached.

Locked door / lost key

May require drilling, pulling or cylinder replacement after explanation.

Company invoice

Billing address, e-mail and service details can be recorded.

Maps & route

Google, Apple and Bing route/profile links are available.

One surcharge rule avoids duplicate emergency labels

Night, weekend and holiday wording describes the applicable time condition. The fixed 20 € amount is applied once rather than adding separate overlapping multipliers.

Confirm access through the building before travel

A locked courtyard gate, hotel reception, office security desk or missing bell name can prevent reaching the actual door. State every shared barrier and responsible contact first.

Wait in a safe place and keep the phone reachable

Use a lit entrance, neighbour, hotel lobby or open business when possible. The route may change, so answer calls and avoid standing in traffic, cold or an unsafe courtyard.

Direct language contact and accountable service

I speak English fluently and handle accepted work myself. The same person clarifies the address, access entitlement, likely method, price components and invoice details before the job proceeds.

Price, authorisation and privacy stay explicit

A straightforward shut but unlocked door in the nearby core area starts from 70 €. A fixed 20 € surcharge applies from 22:00 to 09:00, on weekends and public holidays. Only necessary personal and property details are requested.

24h reachable

I am reachable day and night. Arrival still depends on route and current job.

Invoice possible

Useful for offices, hotels, landlords, property managers and insurance.

FAQ

Questions about door opening night weekend holiday Berlin

Is the surcharge charged several times on a holiday night?

No. The published time surcharge is one fixed 20 € amount, not a stack of separate night, weekend and holiday labels.

Does night-time make drilling more likely?

No. The door state and mechanism determine the method. The time changes the surcharge and practical access, not the technical diagnosis.

What if I cannot enter the shared building?

Say so before dispatch. A neighbour, reception, management contact or separately authorised access may be needed to reach the actual door.

Can I explain everything in English?

Yes. Speak English from the start and I will continue in English. Photos should show only the door, fitting and relevant damage, not unnecessary private information.

Will I receive an invoice?

Yes. Private customers receive an electronic invoice after payment. Companies and authorised contractual clients can provide complete billing details before the job.

Is destructive work automatic?

No. Damage-minimising methods are considered first. Drilling, pulling, replacement or specialist follow-up is explained and authorised only when technically necessary.
