Broken key and blocked cylinder

Broken key in the lock in Berlin: check the fragment, cylinder and door state first.

A broken key does not automatically mean drilling. The fragment position, whether the cylinder turned, and whether the door is shut or locked decide what can be attempted.

I speak English fluently. I may initially answer the phone in German because I work in Berlin; simply speak to me in English and I will switch immediately. What to expect

Clear emergency process, no mystery price game.

I ask what happened, where you are, whether the door is shut or locked, whether the key is inside or lost, and whether an invoice is needed. Then I give a realistic arrival and price range.

Simple shut door

Damage-minimising opening first if the latch can be reached.

Locked door / lost key

May require drilling, pulling or cylinder replacement after explanation.

Company invoice

Billing address, e-mail and service details can be recorded.

Maps & route

Google, Apple and Bing route/profile links are available.

The key position changes the options

A fragment near the entrance of a neutral cylinder may be extractable. A fragment twisted deep inside, trapped after the cylinder turned or broken in a locked door can require a different opening method.

Avoid pushing the fragment deeper

Do not insert another key, screwdriver, glue or random metal tool. Those attempts can wedge the fragment, damage pins or make a clean extraction impossible.

Check why the key broke

A worn key may fail on its own, but a stiff cylinder, door pressure or damaged lock case may have caused the break. After opening, the mechanism should be checked before simply cutting another key.

Direct English contact with the person doing the work

I speak English fluently. I may answer the phone in German because I work locally in Berlin; speak to me in English and I will switch immediately. I personally clarify the door state, explain the price components, travel to the address, perform the agreed work and issue the invoice.

Price, authorisation and scope before work starts

The door state, address, time, access rights and likely method are discussed first. A simple shut but unlocked door in the nearby core area starts from 70 €. A fixed 20 € surcharge applies from 22:00 to 09:00, on weekends and public holidays. Travel, material, a replacement cylinder and technically necessary destructive work are stated separately. Work on shared or third-party property requires plausible authorisation.

24h reachable

I am reachable day and night. Arrival still depends on route and current job.

Invoice possible

Useful for offices, hotels, landlords, property managers and insurance.

FAQ

Questions about broken key in lock Berlin

Can the fragment always be pulled out?

No. Extraction depends on depth, orientation, cylinder position and whether previous attempts pushed it further in.

Should I use glue on the remaining key?

No. Glue can bond the fragment to the cylinder and contaminate the pin chambers, turning a possible extraction into replacement.

Will I need a new cylinder?

Only if the cylinder is damaged, remains blocked or must be sacrificed to open the door. Material is stated separately.

Can I explain the problem in English?

Yes. Speak to me in English and I will switch immediately. A photo of the door, fitting and cylinder can help with the first assessment.

Will I know the price before work begins?

I explain the likely method and separate the service, possible travel, time surcharge, material and destructive work before starting. An exact final price can depend on what the mechanism reveals on site.

Can I receive an invoice?

Yes. Private customers receive an electronic invoice after payment; companies and authorised contractual clients can provide their billing details before work.
